Recommended reading
There is just one set text for the course, however you are welcome to obtain/read the other books listed below.
If you are thinking of training to be a teacher in the future then they will all be useful at some point.
Second hand versions often available. Try abebooks.co.uk
Set text
The Heart of Yoga. TKV Desikachar. Inner Traditions International.
This text includes the version of the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali (and the eight limbs of yoga) that we will focus on during the course.
Other texts of interest - in order of usefulness
I will use these during the course, and sometimes provide photocopies of relevant pages (as appropriate).
Asana, Pranayama, Mudra and Bandha. Swami Satyananda Saraswati. Bihar School of Yoga.
Hatha Yoga Pradipika. Swami Muktibodhananda. Bihar School of Yoga.
The Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Sri Swami Satchidananda. Integral Yoga Publications. An alternative translation of Patanjali's Yoga Sutras.
Light on Yoga. BKS Iyengar. Thorsons.
The Upanishads. Eknath Easwaran. Nilgiri.
The Bhagavad Gita. Eknath Easwaran. Nilgiri.
Further reading
I won't necessarily use these during the course but they are relevant texts that I find useful / enjoy.
Yoga for You. Tara Fraser. Watkins. A great overview of many of the subject areas of the course.
The Yoga Bible. Christina Brown. Bounty Books. This is a really useful guide to postures including warm ups and counterposes.
