Yoga is...a holistic discipline bringing together the mind, body, breath and spirit in order to live a healthy, balanced and fulfilling life. The Sanskrit word yoga means ‘to yoke’ or ‘to unite’.
Yoga has been around for thousands of years, because it works! It remains extremely relevant in today’s western culture and can be practiced at all stages of life. Read about the benefits of yoga. Yoga is totally inclusive and beneficial for all age groups and complements any belief system or faith. There are many types of yoga: yoga of sound, of action and of service – all designed to expand our potential. I teach Hatha yoga. Hatha Yoga is...concerned with the physical aspects of yoga: the postures (asanas), breathing practices (pranayama), and relaxation techniques.
Hatha yoga brings all these aspects together, uniting the body, mind and spirit to deepen self awareness, be more focused and balance our energies. Asana (postures) and pranayama (breathing practices) are two of the 8 limbs or branches of yoga. |
